Orientation of Executive Certificate Course |

The Orientation Program of Executive Certificate Course (ECC) on Governance and Development was held successfully on 5th April (Friday) at 9.30 am at MPPG Conference Room (NAC-1058). Professor Md. Abdus Sattar, Acting Vice Chancellor was present as the Chief Guest of the ceremony. The program was attended by the participants of Executive Certificate Course.
Professor Dr. Khaliquzzaman M. Elias, Coordinator of MPPG Program, Professor Salahuddin M. Aminuzzaman, Adviser of MPPG Program, Professor Dr. Abdur Rob Khan, Chair of GCE Department, Dr. Tawfique M. Haque, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of MPPG Program (as well as Course Coordinator of ECC), Md. Mahfuzul Haque, Additional Secretary, Government of Bangladesh were present in the ceremony.

Master in Public Policy & Governance (MPPG) Program, North South University organized an Alumni Dinner on 28th December 2012 at Hotel Serina. The dinner program was attended by ex-students of MPPG (1st, 2nd & 3rd batch) along with their spouse.
Among the faculty members, Professor Dr. Khaliquzzaman M. Elias, Professor Dr. Salahuddin M. Aminuzzaman, Dr. Sk. Tawfique M. Haque, Professor Dr. Emdadul Haq, Dr. Rizwan Khair were present in the dinner.
It was a great opportunity for all the participants to get together with MPPG family and they all enjoyed the dinner with informal discussion. The program was ended by Professor Salahuddin M. Aminuzzaman, Adviser of MPPG Program with vote of thank and also providing a guideline to form an Alumni of MPPG Program.

Farewell Program for MPPG 3rd Batch Students |

Master in Public Policy and Governance (MPPG) Program organized a farewell program for its 3rd Batch students on 11th August, 2012 (Saturday) at 11.30 am. Dr. Khaliquzzaman M. Elias, Coordinator of MPPG Program, Professor Salahuddin M. Aminuzzaman, Adviser of MPPG Program, Dr. M. Emdadul Haq, Chairman of GCE Department, Dr. Sk. Tawfique M. Haque, Deputy Director of MPPG Program, Md. Mahfuzul Haque, and Dr. Rizwan Khair, visiting faculty members were present there. Students expressed their feelings about the MPPG Program and they recalled their sweet memory of the last two years. They were fully satisfied with academic and social environment of the program during these two years. They also gave valuable suggestion for the further improvement of the program. At the end of the program a small gift packet was handed over to all students.

An International Conference on Governance and Public Policy in South and South-East Asia was held under the Master in Public Policy and Governance (MPPG) Program, Department of General and Continuing Education, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, on July 13 & 14, 2012 at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel, Dhaka. The objective of the conference was to reflect on and share the best practices in governance in this region and trigger further discussion on policy analysis and its dissemination.

At the outset Dr. Ishtiaq Jamil, Conference Convener, gave the welcome address. Professor Dr. A.K. Azad Chowdhury, Chairman (State Minister), University Grants Commission, Bangladesh spoke as the Chief Guest while Professor Hafiz G.A. Siddiqi chaired the plenary session. Dr. Ali Farazmand, Professor of Public Administration, Florida Atlantic University, USA and Dr. Akbar Ali Khan, Former Advisor, Caretaker Government of Bangladesh, presented the Keynote papers. The conference was followed by a series of parallel sessions on 13 & 14 July, 2012. Total of 40 Participants from different countries like India, Nepal, China, Thailand, Norway, Japan, USA, UK, Singapore, Brunei, Canada and Malaysia were present as paper presenters and discussants. In the area of public policy and governance perhaps this was the first time that an international conference of this magnitude was held. |

Seminar "China and South-Asia Cooperation: A Bright Prospect |

H.E. Li Jun, Ambassador, Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh was the key note speaker of the seminar held on 30 May 2012 at NAC-517. The seminar was organized jointly by Master in Public Policy and Governance (MPPG) Program and Confucius Institute at North South University. Mr. Li Jun delivered the lecture on “China and South-Asia Cooperation: A Bright Prospect”. He started with the brief introduction of China and the 12th five year plan of China (2011 – 2015). Mr. Jun also highlighted the China’s South Asia Policy and the relationship between China and South Asian Countries. An interesting question answer session followed Mr. Jun’s presentation. MPPG students, undergraduate students and distinguished visitors were present in the seminar. Dr. Sk. Tawfique M. Haque, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of MPPG Program gave the vote of thanks.
